Highland cloud forest shows stable carbon despite regional trend
Carbon stock in the highland forest above 800 m elevation has remained stable since 2015, diverging from the regional downward trend.
The orographic cloud belt appears to buffer this zone from the moisture deficit stress affecting lowland forest. Combined with lower anthropogenic pressure due to terrain, this area is performing as a reliable carbon store. Further monitoring is recommended to verify this stability holds under projected 2°C warming scenarios.
